The bug's life

Hi everyone,
I'm always fascinating from the Steampunkworld.
With Steampunk I have found one of "my" perfect genre - as it combines nostalgia, vintage and the idea of using future technology in a  brave new world!

The result is a new variety from beetles, dragonfly and turtle,
which can be seen even in the dark very well :-)

Tutorial and Ideas
for several structures

1. Stencil + Crackle paint
2. Stencil + Gesso
3. Embossing folder + metal embellishments
4. Pearlliner

added cardboard + pearls + dies
painted a part of image with black gesso

use spray paints + stencils as mask

use metallic paint Fluid Acrylics Silver + old gears from mechanical clockworks
beetles are from toy shop (silicone)

beetle from stencil and his brother in 3D

Inventive genius and adventurous romance are
what makes Steampunk so very special and exciting to me.

  5. This is an amazing piece of art! I really love the way that you mixed steampunk with that beautiful color palette. The way you blended the colors and textures gave it a fantasy-type of vibe and I love how it goes along with the insects and gears. It is wonderfully elegant yet still has those grungy elements. Really incredible work and I'm so glad you shared it with us for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!

  10. I am not a steam punk expert in any way and... I am not good at steam punk either! BUT... if I had to choose a favorite steam punk artist - it would be you Kerstin. And yes - I agree - this is your genre because you do it WONDERFULLY. I so enjoy the way you make steam punk so positive and light and free. When I think steam punk I think dark and captive. You have totally changed my mind on that with your art. For that... I am grateful! And.... Heheheheh - I soooooooo love your bugs life. LOVE LOVE LOVE.... j.
