GD Simon says - Life on the ocean waves

Welcome creative friends!

I'm back again with a new wonderful theme - Life on the Ocean Waves!

 Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge

It's very hot here and I wish I could be there now.
So I already enjoyed to just think of the refreshing sea breeze, the clear air and some restful moments and tranquillity.
We are having a very hot and especially dry summer over here and even the thought of a cool fresh sea breeze is more than welcome...

... as well as another up cycling project in weathered wood style!

This is how I started:

The old plaque with a funny saying was now obsolete.
So I first primed its background with chalk paint, a very good base layer to work on.
To achieve an old and aged look I like to use Distress sprays as the sprayed on colour spreads randomly which doesn't look too artificial.

Besides, I'm known for always liking to work with 3D elements as these seem very vivid and bring life into the project. There are many ways to do this: you can work with embossing folders, in multiple layers, with moulds or natural elements like drift wood, shells or lichen for example.

  2. Kerstin, this has got to be one of my favorites from you (except Halloween, of course!)! The mixed media details on this are amazing, and you have managed to make this look as if it's been dredged from the sea floor! Such a great project! It's no wonder SSS wanted to have your guest design for them! Sending hugs! I hope you get to cool off soon; I'm already wishing for autumn!
