Three of  my First Altered Books – A Vintage Mixed Media Travel Memory

 

This books, which I still love very much, were created a long time ago— my very first projects in the world of altered books and mixed media art. Looking back at it still brings a lot of inspiration and joy, as it marks the beginning of my creative journey.

The main inspiration came from the beautiful stamp designs by La Blanche. I was fascinated by their detail and vintage aesthetic, so I decided to build an entire project around them. Each stamp was carefully imprinted onto Stabile paper, giving me a strong base to work with. After stamping, I cut out every single element by hand, which allowed me to build layered compositions and give each page its own story.

To enhance the vintage travel feeling, I added small metal embellishments that bring texture and depth to the pages. 

The final touch was the use of Distress Inks, which I used to color and age the elements. The soft, worn effect created by the inks helped unify the whole project and gave it that nostalgic, timeworn look I love so much.

Little Mermaid

 Transforming an old book into a three-dimensional underwater world was such a magical creative journey. From layered waves and vintage illustrations to seashell details and hidden stories between the pages, this piece reminds me why I fell in love with altered book art in the first place.

This creation will always have a special place in my heart. 

 

 

Even though this were my first experiments in altered book art, it already carried my passion for storytelling, texture, and vintage aesthetics.

 Wonderful memories, and they absolutely had to find a place here!
