Forest Friends

Forest Friends is an intuitive mixed media project created freely on a wooden frame, without a painted background. The natural wood surface became part of the design and set the organic tone in combination with a touch of steampunk for the entire piece.

Instead of starting with a detailed plan, I chose to work freely on a wooden frame, allowing the materials themselves to shape the final composition. I used chipboards, outcasts, drying nature elements, feathers, fabric texture and moss.

It was both challenging and refreshing.

This approach is one of the things I love most about mixed media: it allows mistakes to turn into design features and encourages experimentation.

Chipboards were used to build structure and depth, forming a loose, forest-like composition. Additional texture was added with an outcast from a Green Man Mould, which bring a special detail in form of an old, kind tree face and connect the layers visually.

For the forest animals, I used both embossing powder and acrylic paint.

Picture Frame - Hello Friend

 Hello!

Today an upcycling project, it was an old wooden frame, now it's an eyecatcher

where you can add an special photo or an wise saying.

I decorated it with a nautilus from a fantasy Steampunk land

and supplemented the nautilus with a kelp, split in the centre,

this is how wonderful tentacles were created. Chain was made with the help of a mould,

on the body I added two cogs, a capnut and a thin metal ornament.

DIY Sea Fantasy Frame with MDF Shapes & Mould

Welcome creative friends!

I'm an enthusiastic Mixed Media designer and Steampunk & Sea
is always a very fascinating theme for me.

Some days ago I got a wonderful gift from my friend Claudia 😍
thanks sooo much!!!
I'm totaly in love with this awesome Maxi Mould 'Seaworld' from Stamperia. I used the various casts for some mixed media projects and was very thrilled to find out if you can combine this big seahorse (made with modeling clay) with some filigree MDF wooden shapes from Calico Craft Parts.

I created a mixed media frame in Altered Art.

more details can you find here

I used some embossing powders and Metallic Wax

for some shiny metallic effects

with a very special embossing powder 'Burnt Copper Leave'

Do you also love to combine different ideas and materials? then give it a try.

 Thanks for your visit!

Stay safe everyone and take care of yourselves and your loved ones…

GD Simon says - Bright and Cheerful colours

Welcome, creative friends!

 https://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/
and the theme for this week is...

Bright and Cheerful Colours

I was inspired to create a gift for a friend
and used some delicate bright colours on a simple plastic frame.

Tip

Firstly I used some golden filigree self-adhesive stickers for some subtle texture,
in addition two small homemade mould elements at the lower edge.
The foot of the frame was covered with some string.
Afterwards I painted over everything with a chalk finish paint and then highlighted it
with white gesso.

That wonderful 3D texture in the background is amazing, isn't it?

I love this dimensional effect created
