Stepping Out of Line – Scrapbooking with Chipboards

Scrapbooking is all about telling stories,

and sometimes the most exciting stories begin when we dare to step out of line.

For this project, I worked with the theme “to step out of line”, which for me means trying something unexpected and embracing creative freedom.

Chipboards played a key role in this layout. I love how they add dimension and structure while still leaving room for creativity. Chipboard elements  were altered with Embossing powder, paint and ink to create contrast and rust effects as highlight the focal points of the page.

This creates movement and makes the layout feel dynamic and expressive rather than perfectly aligned.

Scrapbooking doesn’t have to be perfect – it should feel honest, playful, and inspiring.

A Winter Walk to Remember

Winter walks have a very special kind of magic. The air is cold and fresh, the world feels quieter, and every step leaves a trace in the snow.

On this winter day, we went for a long walk through the snowy landscape.

The soft winter colors, the frozen trees, and dog’s paw prints in the snow made this walk feel timeless. It was a simple moment, but it felt peaceful.

This scrapbook page is more than just paper and photos. It’s a reminder of cold noses and the quiet happiness of spending time together. By using some amazing winter chipboards, I was able to create depth and highlight special details on the page.

The Christmas Eve Gift Crisis

 Hello creative friends!

You always know it’s December 23rd when the mall fills with panic-stricken men

clutching gift cards like they’re life rafts.

You can practically hear the internal monologue: “Shower gel counts as thoughtful… right?”

I'm wondering how these men manage to be shocked—SHOCKED!—that Christmas is again on December 24/25th.

But fear not, gentlemen. There is a solution -
It’s called DIY - maybe Scrapbooking?!
Yes, the mysterious art of scissors, glue, and actual effort.😁

Start simple: pick a few photos, add a memory or two

(remember when you accidentally burned the Christmas roast?),

stick on a bit of glitter—voluntary, but highly recommended 😂

and voilà: a heartfelt funny gift. 🎄

The layout hangs in a central place in the apartment. It cannot be overlooked. 😉
I added a small clip where you can attach a To-do list or gift ideas.

So this year, dear holiday procrastinators, try a DIY project.
Because nothing says “I love you” like a gift

that required sitting down for more than 30 seconds.

Let's Bake

 Hello kreative Freunde!

Sunflowers with Dusty Attic

 Hello crafty friends!

I was very happy to receive a beautiful bouquet of sunflowers

from our garden while I was in hospital.

I love these flowers, which radiate so much warmth and joie de vivre

and are always a sign that autumn is coming.

This cheerful scrapbooking layout is all about the sunflower - a symbol of summer, warmth and joie de vivre - and the colour palette is sunny and warm: bright yellow, soft orange and earthy tones.

A cream-coloured cardstock was used as the basis, combined with brown patterned paper.

I used sunflower chipboards and a beautiful autumn leaf stencil, which are very nature-like and therefore among my favourites.

They were painted with simple acrylic colours, copied from my garden 😀.

DA Escape outdoors

 Hello!

Spring is on its way, and nature is waking up. Every day, there's something new to see. The daffodils are in full bloom, and the meadows are covered in daisies.

That's what got me thinking of doing a layout with a natural look. For the background, I used this lovely wildflower stencil, which went perfectly with the daffodils and daisies.

Snow Fun

 Hello!

Unfortunately, walking through a freshly snow-covered landscape is becoming increasingly rare for us too. Our dog always loved it. His nose always disappeared in the deep snow and his coat was adorned with little snowballs, lovely memories.

All chipboard was painted with white acrylic paint only. Various white or transparent textures were added to the wet paint, such as artificial snow, mini glass beads, decoice or white glitter.

Fly a kite

 Hello!

Autumn is here, the first storms have reached us. This is the best time to fly a kite and the best place to do this is, of course, by the sea.

Our children love to make their own kites, so I thought it'd be a good and creative idea to add two miniature kites here.

I worked with stamps and distress ink on the background, added some leaves made with cutting dies and created a natural look with chipboard and drying plants in the left corner.
I used white gesso as a base and with different textures and textured materials
I created an interesting life-like look to the chipboards.

A girl and her dog with Dusty Attic

 Hello!

My latest sea inspired layout with some beautiful chipboards from Dusty Attic.

It's a mix of boho and vintage style , I used some dried plants like grasses and thistles,

I love that natural look, I played with distressed colours and different textures

to make everything look a bit older.

All chipboards were primed with white gesso, then painted with acrylics.

Some were textured with powder. I

love to divide the chippies because it opens up new possibilities.

You often work in layers, which creates a vivid impression.
