Mermaid dreams

Hi friends!

how I promised a new canvas from my Fantasy Journey, today
forget the outside world for a while,
far removed from the hectic and stress of common day life,
is like diving into another world
:-) Enjoy the time :-)

A wonderful mermaid motif from Josephine Wall -
I love her fantasy,  perhaps to much for one picture (at least for me),
that remember me on my beginnings, it had to be 'have it all' on one project
therefore I use only a cutout
as inspiration for the underwater-landscape.
I thought on a meadow under the sea.

Tutorial Tipps & Tricks

white gesso with stencils Ray (Tim Holtz) Kelp forest (TCW)
cutout  from a J.Wall photo
gauze + ribbon yarn (Bändchengarn)

route effects with shimmer mist colors (DecoArt)
and water in spraybottle

marble effects wet in wet technique
let things (or colors) slide :-) in all directions

a wonderful metal seahorse embellishment and his shadows above that
with green metalic paint and reflective beads
sand texture with transparent soft matte gel

deco elements: shells, wood anchor, seahorses, felt elements ...

Claudia asked us
The project that resembles "me" best??

and yes that's me (in the moment ;-)) I love it to play with colors and textures, a
little bit magic and depth
used internally and externally :-).
even surprise me sometimes by trial and error
to discover new things in all directions and styles
and forever and ever to tell stories behind the creation

Thanks for your visit!
Happy crafting
xx Kerstin xx

  3. I LOVE your mermaid and the place she lives in, Kerstin!

You have created a most amazing depth and I love how the paint effects really create the impression of seaweed being moved by breakwater and sunlight finding its way down to the mermaid's secret hiding and resting place!

She looks so peaceful. I am sure the seahorse is only one of her guards who make sure she is safe in her slumbers. Thank you so much for sharing this magical piece of art - not only over at my place but also with the team over at Emerald Creek Dares!

    Big hug, my friend!
